- Preparation is the key to performing well in interviews. Research the organisation and the role you are applying for.
- Dress smartly and speak clearly. Try not to let your nerves show too much. Nerves are normal, but could affect your performance.
- Don't be late. Find out where the interview is beforehand, how to get there and how long it will take.
- Prepare for your interview, read the person specification/job description and prepare answers to questions you will expect to be asked.
- You are selling yourself - be positive but remain truthful.
- Focus your answers on what you can bring to the organisation.
- Think of some questions to ask at the end of the interview. You can use this to find out more about the company and your role.
- When discussing salary, start by quoting a little higher than current market values.
- Ensure you turn off your mobile phone.
- Obtain feedback on your interview (whether you were successful or not).
